Intended Outcomes
By the end of these sessions, participants will be able to:
Apply WL standards-based and evidence-based unit and lesson design strategies that integrate content, process, and common terminology to strengthen daily instruction.
Understand tasks and tools that foster collaboration among students, parents, and WL teachers to create alignment between assessment and instruction, ensuring consistent expectations and curricular coherence and articulation within and across grade levels.
Reflect on and adapt existing practices to enhance student learning in WL and across other disciplines, promoting coherence in both standards and instructional approaches.

Session Description:
During these 3 sessions, we will take a new look at the AERO/International WL Standards and Benchmarks. Our focus will be to show how language teachers in schools around the world are teaching and assessing model standards-based units. Presenters will highlight the processes in use in schools to create units and multi-level curricula. Newly developed model units will be provided that exemplify coherence both across the language dimensions and sequences, as well as through the other disciplines at each level of instruction. Standards-based formative, summative, and international normative assessments will be examined and shared. Strategies will be provided for engaging with your school administration and curriculum directors to promote the languages being taught in your schools.
